When the parasite egg hatches, the young bloodsucker larva feeds on the host (the bug) and kills it. Normally that one host is enough to feed the immature parasite till it becomes a grown-up. Many parasites are extremely details to the sort of host pest they can attack, and they are not dangerous to humans.
